Beetroot Juice

Remember my post about broccoli juice? This beetroot juice is another favorite! Though I must admit that I’ve learned to love it … it is really all about how and what you combine it with. We have added orange and ginger to make it taste more fresh and sweet. Strawberries and beetroots are also an interesting combo that we’ve tried. Except for having a beautiful color, beetroots are also rich in vitamin A, B and C and the minerals calcium, magnesium, iron and a lot more! Beetroot cleans your body and purifies your blood. What are you waiting for?!

Beetroot juice
2 glasses

2 small beetroots (small to medium beetroots have the sweetest flavour)
3 oranges
a piece of fresh ginger

ice cubes

Mix all the ingredients in a juice machine, if you use organic beetroot and ginger you don’t have to peel them. Pour it into glasses, add ice cubes, stir and serve. You can also add 1 tbsp wheatgrass powder to boost your energy!

If you don’t have a juice machine try this beetroot smoothie instead.

Beetroot smoothie – Beat it
2 glasses

1 medium beetroot
1 handful strawberries (frozen)
1/2 avocado
2 handful spinach (frozen or fresh)
1 banana
a piece of fresh ginger
3,5 dl almond milk
1 tbsp oil (linseed)

Mix everything in a blender for 2 minutes. Enjoy!

This beetroot smoothie – beat it recipe is adapted from the danish juice book “High on juice”.

I never thought I'd love beet but it's really good! I've made a couple of my own recipes here >> http://www.juicingwithg.com/beet-juice-recipes/ Probably not as tasty as yours but still good enough for me :D

  • Got a juicer the other day. Love beet juice but carzy expensive to buy ready made juice. More fun and inexpensive to make my own. I like 1 med beet, 2 med carrots, 1 celery stalk, and maybe a tomato. Mmmm makes about 2cups.
  • This looks like a great recipe, I am going to give it a try. I am sure that you can use coconut milk instead of almond milk.
  • Hmmm…this I must say is very enticing. Although I have come across people that make smoothie using beetroot, myself have never tried it before. After reading your blog, I think I am finally going to give this a try. Cheers!
  • This is the right blog for everyone who really wants to find out about this topic. You know a whole lot its almost hard to argue with you (not that I actually will need to…HaHa). You definitely put a fresh spin on a topic which has been discussed for a long time. Great stuff, just wonderful!
  • Thanks for this site! I'm a vegan and a juicer so I'm always on the lookout for great, healthy veggie type recipes. I can't wait to try this juice recipe. I try to incorporate as much beet as I can tolerate into my morning juices. I just have to do it with caution as it can upset my stomach. I love the ginger idea. Keep up the great work!
  • This is a great recipe. I modified it slightly. I used rice milk and added a few almonds, and used olive oil for the oil. I garnished it with some crushed walnuts.
  • Great idea. I love beets but have never tried making a juice with them. Definitely going to try that this week.

I just tried the juice recipe and loved it! The ginger makes it taste almost sparkling. I think this could put the fizzy juice companies out of business! More juice recipes please!

Hello GKS :) Greetings from a rainy Friday afternoon in England! This is my first comment on one of your recipes although I visit very often! I felt compelled to comment because I have stumbled accross tis post whilst drinking a Apple, Beetroot and Blackcurrant juice! I try to eat or drink beet/juice often because I find it really helps my somewhat difficult digestive system but as you said, it is soemthing you have to learn to love! I'm going to attempt to make this juice as soon as possible, so thanks for the idea :) Now I'm going to check for all your other recipes including Beet! Keep up the great work, Smiles and thanks, Isla :)

Hej! I just made your beetroot smoothie after my saturday morning visit to the farmer's market. I have to confess, that I was a bit sceptical when I threw all those ingredients into my blender. I also forgot the strawberries. But: This smoothie is super-delicious!!! Thanks for showing me another way to add more raw beets to my diet! :-) Have a nice weekend!

I love beetroots and this juice looks yum! I just bought the same Philips juicer 2 days ago and am patiently waiting for my organic box to arrive so I can start juicing!
  • It's so funny! I was JUST talking about beet juice with a friend the other day... Love beets! But be forewarned: my friend od'ed on beet juice, literally! Granted, she drank a whole 16oz (about ½ litre), but it turns out that that's too much iron in one shot!
  • Thanks everyone! Wow, a 2 year old who loves beetroot, wonderful! I just made veggie burgers with beetroot and golden millet, maybe he love those as well :) We'll publish the recipe sometime this week!
  • This recipe sounds disgustingly delicious!!!! I'm definitely trying it! :0)
  • This looks pretty tasty and it's sooo darn good for you too! The strawberries, ginger, and banana probably add such a delicious flavor the the beets! Cheers~

My 2 year old son loves beetroot, apples and blueberries. Another favorite is orange and carrots. I've never tried broccoli, though... he hates it so much that I think he will taste it on the juice. ;)
  • I adore adding beetroot to smoothies - beetroot and raspberries with carrot is a favorite combination! I've also known to make beetroot smoothies with a little carob or cocoa powder, avocado, and spinach - like a chocolate shake :)
  • That is an amazingly beautiful color!
  • Beautiful juice.....my favourite too. It's colourful , refreshing and delicious.
  • This looks very intriguing. I've never tried a beetroot smoothie. What a nice mix of flavours. I might try this one. Thanks for inspiration.
